THE RELATIONSHIP CENTER

KATI BUEHRLE

My Focus Areas
LGBTQIA+ Folks and Gender Affirming Care: I’m here to offer an affirming and open
space for you to be and explore your most authentic self. I would love to have the opportunity to support you as you move through your experience with gender, sexual orientation, and other aspects of identity. My hope is to help clients build self- acceptance, access resources and support, and navigate relationships and life with more confidence, whether they are just beginning their journey, coming out, or continuing to deepen their sense of identity.
Trauma: As a trauma‑informed therapist, I strive to help clients gently untangle the impact of overwhelming experiences so they can reconnect with a sense of safety, strength, and trust. I’m here to listen and offer support as you navigate life after trauma and explore your experiences at your own pace. Only you have control over when you share your story and who you share your story with, so we only have to talk about what you’ve been through if you want to and when you feel ready. My approach often includes Internal Family Systems (IFS) to help clients get to know different parts of themselves and heal the parts that hold onto painful experiences.
Adult Neurodivergence & ADHD: Being neurodivergent and having ADHD can bring a variety of challenges including difficulty regulating emotions, struggling with impulse control, difficulty staying focused or present, trouble completing tasks, trouble relaxing, or difficulty with organization or planning to name a few. These challenges can sometimes lead to low self-esteem, self-doubt, or feeling like you’ve let yourself or others down in some way. Whatever obstacles you experience, I’m here to help you find coping skills to overcome them. Through exploring executive function skills and self-compassion, I hope to work with you to find strategies that work with your symptoms rather than against them.
Approach
My approach to therapy is collaborative, person-centered, and strengths-based. I utilize a variety of treatment modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Internal Family Systems (IFS) and I make an effort to work with each person to identify which treatment will fit their unique needs. It’s important to me that I meet you where you are in your healing journey and allow you to set a pace for treatment that feels comfortable and safe for you. I try to be genuine and direct with clients and enjoy incorporating humor into the therapy space when it feels right.
