My Focus Areas

Relationships: All human moments are experienced within a system; they have a relationship to one another. You have a relationship with your family, your friends, your coworkers, your community, your planet, your universe. All of these relationship are directly impacted by your relationship with yourself. We will start with you and work our way out to ensure personal and systemic wellness.

Trauma: Trauma can take many forms. Any life moment that you experience as scary, trapping, panic-y, gut wrenching, frozen, etc. can be held in the body and mind as trauma. The impact of these past experiences have a ripple effect on your future self and relationships. Together with body/mind, EMDR, brainspotting and other trauma healing treatments, we will explore, reprocess and find peace and security.

Partnerships: Believe it or not, I love working with couples and partnerships. Intimate relationships are hard work and so is relationship counseling.  I won’t promise that after each session everything will be perfect, but I will work to ensure you walk away feeling connected and heard. We will use tools and interventions from the leading systemic theories and we’ll talk about all the topics that impact relationships: family of origin, sex, finances, power, trauma, communication, etc.

Therapists: Therapists need a therapist too! It’s hard to find a therapist out there that isn’t connected to your sphere. As a therapist, you can “therapist” yourself (and your loved ones) all day long.  But when it comes down to it, it’s helpful to have support from exploration to application. I get it – I also get that you get it. Together, we will figure it out and do something with it.

“We are all just walking each other home.” – Ram Das

We are each on a journey through this life. I am here on your journey and you’re on mine. I will collaborate with you every step of the way. You are the expert of your life, your relationships and your future; I honor that. I provide an open, affirming, thoughtful and reflective space. My training in systems theories, trauma, sand-tray, yoga, EMDR, brainspotting, animal assisted therapy and nature based interventions provides a strong foundation for me to help you, help yourself. I will offer you a warm and directive, supportive and challenging space for you to craft your path to a happy and whole you.

Professional Clinical Counselor Supervisor

TRC Mayfield Village

Along my counseling voyage, I have had the opportunity to work in a variety of mental health settings: schools, psychiatric hospital units, LGBT+ advocacy groups & private practice. This array of experiences are the blocks of knowledge, understanding and empathy that I carry with me to every session. In addition to vast clinical experience, I completed my Master’s and PhD at the University of Akron in Counselor Education: Marriage and Family Therapy. I enjoy teaching and supervising provisionally licensed clinicians. My research goals are to integrate the therapeutic power of movement, nature and animals with individuals and couples. Further, I have specialized training in EMDR, brainspotting, expressive arts, animal assisted therapy and eco-therapy. Learning is a lifelong passion for me.

Personal Information

Hello! Please, call me Teresa. I own The Relationship Center and truly enjoy all the successes, challenges and connections that counseling offers. Weekdays, you can find me at the office seeing clients, feeding the office wildlife and managing all the things. I aim for a 4 day work week, because, well, mental health matters, right?

Weekends, between general adulting activities, I intentionally carve out time for the moments that fill my cup.  Hot yoga is where I go to not think and just be. Hiking is where I go to think and reconnect. The creatures that get me moving every day are my husband, son and our pack, clowder & fluffle: 4 dogs, Bo, Hazel, Sunny & Roo, 4 cats, Tiger, Obie, Jupiter & Diego and 2 rabbits, Coconut & Ellie.

I care about the planet, the animals and the humans. I watch too much reality TV. I am a Capricorn, Gryffindor and an ENTP. My favorite color is yellow because it lets the sun shine in.

It’s nice to meet you.
